The Podcast Within Episodes

Helping you write the work you’re meant to create

Episodes

The Story Within is a weekly podcast for writers who feel the pull to create meaningful work but aren’t sure where to begin, how to keep going, or what their writing is meant to become.

Hosted by author and mentor Cindy Folk, this podcast offers grounded inspiration, steady encouragement, and practical steps to help you move toward the writing you’re meant to create — one brave step at a time.

If you’ve been carrying a story inside you, this is your place to return to it.

🎙️ EPISODE 1: “You’re Not Alone in Feeling Stuck”

This is the perfect first episode because it meets your listener exactly where they are.

Episode 1 Sound Bites (to use in the episode + social posts)

  • You’re not alone in feeling stuck.

  • Writing shouldn’t feel confusing or inaccessible.

  • One small step at a time is enough.

  • Your story matters, and you deserve the chance to tell it.

  • Clarity grows when you begin, gently and without pressure.

Episode 1 Structure + Talking Notes

1. Welcome + grounding (1–2 minutes)

  • Introduce yourself as a guide, not an expert.

  • Acknowledge the emotional reality of writing: fear, doubt, overwhelm.

  • Set the tone: calm, steady, invitational.

Key line: You’re not alone in feeling stuck. Most writers begin exactly where you are.

2. The Problem (3–5 minutes)

Use your BrandScript here.

  • External: “I want to write a book, but I don’t know where to start.”

  • Internal: “What if I’m not good enough?”

  • Philosophical: “Your story matters.”

Speak gently to each layer.

Key line: The real struggle isn’t the writing. It’s the doubt.

3. The Guide (2–3 minutes)

Share your empathy + authority.

  • You’ve been there.

  • You know the feeling of wanting to write but not knowing how.

  • You’ve helped writers move from overwhelm to clarity.

Key line: I walk beside writers with calm, practical guidance.

4. The Plan (3–5 minutes)

Offer a simple, doable path.

Your 3‑step plan:

  1. Explore what fits your season.

  2. Take one small step.

  3. Build clarity and momentum as you go.

Give examples of “small steps”:

  • Write for 5 minutes

  • Name the story you want to tell

  • Choose one scene to explore

  • Read something that inspires you

Key line: You don’t need a perfect plan. You need a gentle beginning.

5. The Stakes (2 minutes)

Speak softly but honestly.

Key line: Don’t let your story stay inside you.

Explain that doing nothing keeps them stuck in the same cycle of doubt.

6. The Transformation (2–3 minutes)

Paint the picture of what’s possible.

  • More clarity

  • More confidence

  • A writing rhythm that feels steady

  • A story that begins to take shape

  • A sense of purpose returning

Key line: Your voice grows stronger when you give it space.

7. Closing + Call to Action (1–2 minutes)

Keep it gentle.

🎙️ HOW TO RECORD USING ZOOM (Simple + Free)

Zoom is perfect for your first season.

Steps:

  1. Open Zoom → Start a new meeting (just you).

  2. Click Record → choose “Record on this computer.”

  3. Speak normally — Zoom will capture clean audio.

  4. When finished, click Stop Recording.

  5. End the meeting → Zoom automatically saves the audio file (MP4 + M4A).

  6. Upload the M4A audio file to your podcast host (Buzzsprout, Anchor, etc.).

Tips for better sound:

  • Use a quiet room

  • Sit close to the microphone

  • Speak slowly and calmly (your natural tone)

  • Record 2–3 seconds of silence at the start (helps with editing)

🎙️ LAUNCH PLAN FOR THE STORY WITHIN

This is a simple, sustainable plan that fits your season.

Phase 1 — Prepare (Week 1)

  • Record Episodes 1–3

  • Write short show notes for each

  • Create your podcast cover (I can help with the concept)

  • Set up your podcast host (Buzzsprout is easiest)

  • Add your description + tagline

Phase 2 — Soft Launch (Week 2)

  • Publish Episodes 1–3 on the same day

  • Add them to cindyfolkauthor.com

  • Send a gentle email to your list: “The Story Within is here. A quiet space for your writing.”

  • Share one sound bite on Instagram

Phase 3 — Weekly Rhythm (Weeks 3–12)

  • Release one episode every week

  • Share one quote or sound bite per episode

  • Add each episode to your website

  • Mention your offerings gently in each outro

Phase 4 — Growth (Month 2–3)

  • Invite one guest (a writer or creative friend)

  • Create a simple lead magnet (e.g., “5 Gentle Ways to Begin Again”)

  • Mention it in your episodes

  • Add a “Podcast” tab to your website

Phase 5 — Monetize (Month 3–6)

Start with self‑sponsorship:

  • Your retreats

  • Your writing sessions

  • Your guides

  • Your workshops

Later, add aligned sponsors:

  • Journals

  • Writing tools

  • Indie bookstores

  • Tea/coffee brands
